AA Conversations selects one unmissable event for you to attend this week
02 February 2015 Architectural Association, London   Tonight's lecture by Katerina Scoufaridou, AADipl2011 kicks off this term's What's Next lecture series, which invites recent graduates back to the AA to discuss their unique forms of practice. Katerina, an architect at Squire and Partners, started her company SoMe+hing On The Side in her evenings and weekends as the title suggests. She will present her incredible textiles that draw on her interest in flattened perspectives and embedded narratives that she developed through her fifth year project in Diploma 9. Her wearable pieces such as scarves and kimonos each employ unique patterns and surface modulations drawn by Katerina to explore the idea of pattern in relation to the body, objects and space. It promises to be a visual and tactile feast of materials.   Also this week is Tuesday evening's lecture Between the Lines by Adam Magyar as well as the first in the Embedded Intelligence Lecture Series on Biological Intelligence at 5pm in the New Soft Room, testing a new Google Hangout format to liaise with speakers in New York. On Wednesday, the Housing London series begins with a session titled Public vs. Private: Who will provide the housing London needs? bringing together architects, politicians, planners, developers and commentators to debate the key questions about one of the most pressing issues facing the capital today. And to close the week Mark Cousins' Friday series on The Gesture continues with Does Stone Suffer?   See the Events List to find out more or check the AA website to find out What’s On.
