Architectural Association, London
Its Open Week and with all complementary studies courses suspended, it leaves plenty of time to attend our unmissable event this week – Tuesday evening’s conversation on Biennialing: Excitement or Exhaustion? where Shumon Basar brings together a group of biennale directors including Nicola Lees, Elvira Dyangani Ose and Joseph Grima (via Google Hangout from New York) to discuss the Biennial as our cultural format of choice, how it has evolved within art and architecture ,and whether this has been for the worse or for the better?
Also this week is a day-long symposium on Contemporary Urban Design Education organised by Sam Jacoby from Projective Cities on Wednesday in the Lecture Hall. Participants include Ingrid Schröder (Cambridge University); Fei Chen (University of Liverpool); Diego Ramírez-Lovering (Monash University); Peter Bishop, (UCL); Alexander Lehnerer (ETH); Adrian Lahoud (RCA); Milica Topalovic (ETH); and Ricky Burdett (LSE). Finally to close the week on Friday, the Term 2 Open Jury will take place in the Lecture Hall and Rear Second Presentation Space – a great opportunity to see selected work in progress from the Undergraduate School in what promises to be an exciting new format!
