_behind the scenes of the phantom island
Encouraged by the fact that the technical studies tutors allowed me to pursue a topic and agenda a bit different from the expected and gave me guidance to do something different, I decided to push the boundaries of reality in a subtle yet extreme way. The freedom I had within the context of technical studies was fantastic and is what this school is all about.
My technical studies became the revelation of a phantom island. It is an investigation of the soft and hard infrastructure we rely on; google and it’s associates. It shows how one can intervene in these sites of tomorrow, by blurring the lines between reality and fiction and breaking down the image to construct an architecture of illusion. The outcome becomes a fictional city believed to be real.
