AA Conversations selects one unmissable event for you to attend this week
20 October 2014 Architectural Association, London   Not to be missed this week is tonight's lecture by photographer Giles Price. Titled Mega Projects - People and the Place: Price will discuss the large scale spectacles he has documented over the last few years, combining aerial overviews with intimate portraits to reveal the stories and processes behind creating temporary projects at an urban scale.   As a master of being in the right place at the right time, Price will discuss how he borrowed a friend's helicopter to document the construction of the London 2012 Olympics when no one else thought to, how his photographs of India's Maha Kumbh Mela in 2013 are now being used to illustrate Harvard's multidisciplinary research project on the mass bathing ritual, and how the photographic diary he kept while fighting in the First Gulf War is now part of London's Imperial War Museum's collection. The talk will be an incredible insight into how these events are constructed and documented as well as the people involved who made them possible.   In addition to tonight's lecture, tomorrow evening will see Mark Pimlott and Tony Fretton give parallel lectures on Propositions for Things and Places and Buildings and their Territoriesand on Thursday evening Richard Martin will launch his new book The Architecture of David Lynch in the AA Bookshop.   See the Events List to find out more or check the AA website to find out What's On.
